Begin With The End In Mind

“Bet on yourself.” - Ben Lovro

Introduction:

Beginning with the end in mind is a fundamental principle from Stephen Covey's best-selling book, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." This concept involves creating a clear vision of what you want to achieve before taking action. It requires individuals to think about their ultimate goals, values, and passions and then work backward to create a plan to achieve them. Beginning with the end in mind is a powerful tool that can help individuals align their actions with their desired outcomes, stay motivated, and achieve success in various areas of their lives.

8 Reasons

Work harder on yourself than you work at your job! 👊

Begin with the end in mind

This is a powerful principle that has completely changed my life.

Before I got started in the real estate investing space, I was in the process of building a DJ company. I had been working on this idea for a while and had invested a considerable amount of time and money into it. While I had a lot of fun inside of this season, I was spinning my wheels and in many cases working late nights and weekends.

I was still very green in my journey of entrepreneurship. One day, I opened up a book titled "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." As I read through the book, the concept of beginning with the end in mind really stood out to me.

As I began to think about and digest what it meant to ‘Begin with the end in mind’, it completely changed the trajectory of my life. It talked about the importance of having a clear vision of where you want to go in life before taking action. It requires one to think ahead, envision the desired outcome, and then work backward to create a plan to achieve that outcome.

I started to ask myself, “Do I really want to be a 50-year-old DJ on stage, hyping up the crowd?

So I took a step back and asked myself, "What is my ultimate goal?" After some reflection, a lot of self-development, and reading, I stumbled across a book called ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kyosaki.’

Before I finished the book, I had already established in my mind that Real Estate was the vehicle that I was going to pursue with everything that I had. Immediately, I completely shifted my focus, slowly stopped picking up DJ gigs, and started learning everything I could about real estate. I read books, attended seminars, bought online courses, and did everything that I could to learn the game.

As I worked toward my goals, I found that everything fell into place. It wasn’t always easy, and there were a lot of roadblocks along the way. But, I made a commitment to myself that somehow, some way, I was going to make it in the real estate investing industry.

Looking back, it’s crazy to think that something as small as the simple principle ‘Begin with the end in mind’ could change the entire direction of my life forever.

What I have learned along the journey is that our thoughts and ideas become things. If I continued slaving away at the restaurant or going all in on building a DJ company, I would be in a completely different place today.

Good or bad, my life would be drastically different.

No matter where you may be currently at in life, it’s never too late to reinvent yourself and change the direction that you are leading. But, it all starts with the thoughts that you think, the books that you read, and the people that you choose to associate with.

By taking the time to develop yourself and envision your goals, you give yourself clarity which in turn leads you to make conscious decisions about where you want to go.

Our time is limited, so why get stuck in a job that you hate? Why allow yourself to settle for average because the pain of change feels more difficult than the pain that you wake up to every morning wishing that things were different.

It's never too late to start thinking about where you want to go and how you're going to get there. Start today and see where this simple principle can take you!

I’m rooting for your success.
